I loved eating at the Anasazi Steakhouse in St. George!  It was a totally unique experience for me to cook my own steak on a lava rock.  Anasazi Steakhouse uses volcanic rocks that are heated in a special oven for 6-8 hours.  The website talks about how the idea of using stones for cooking is not new…it goes back to 18,000 B.C.  The stones have a natural ability to retain and radiate heat that makes them an ideal cooking source.  I cooked my own steak to perfection on my own rock.  It was delicious!  I also tasted chicken, shrimp and scallops that members of my family had cooked on their own stones.  They were wonderful too!  The menu offers steak, pork chops, lamb, ostrich medallions, buffalo, shrimp, scallops, tuna, salmon, swordfish, mahi mahi, chicken and portabello mushrooms.  If you don't want to cook your own meat you can ask for yours to be grilled by the chef, but that takes away the fun.  We started our meal by ordering a cheese fondue entrée that was priced for two people and it was the perfect appetizer for six of us.  The meal came with salad, rolls, vegetables and potatoes.  We were planning to follow up the meal with a chocolate fondue, but we were just too full.

The restaurant is located at 1234 Sunset Boulevard and is open daily.  The hours are:  Sunday – Thursday 5pm-9pm and Friday – Saturday 4pm-9:30pm.  The prices for this restaurant are a little more than I usually spend for a meal, but we were celebrating a birthday and the unique experience was well worth it.  Prices for an entree range from about $14 - $30, with some items listed at market price.  I highly encourage you to experience cooking your own meat on your own stone sometime in your life.

Live life to the fullest with no regrets!
