Let's begin by talking art. You don't have to spend much time in the heart of Utah's Dixie or even have a sharpened artist's eye, to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Many artists and collectors alike have found inspiration among the red rocks and blue skies the area is known for. The residents of St. George eagerly embrace such talent, and the city and community are well known for celebrating visual art of all genres. The following list provides just a smattering of the many art exhibits and galleries available here:

  • Art Around the Corner - There is hardly anything more enjoyable than a walk down St. George's historic Main Street. Not only does this stroll provide a delightful glimpse into some of the local retail shops, fine restaurants and historical buildings, it also offers a "must see" art experience. Stretching along Main Street are 16 sculptures comprising an open air exhibit. These sculptures are presented by accomplished artists and refreshed periodically.  Past contributors include James Christensen, Silvia Davis and Grant Speed, among many others.
  • The Artist's Gallery - This non-profit cooperative gallery invites artists to display their work in exchange for volunteering for several days. Known for its inclusive nature, this gallery shows a wide range of original work from watercolors and oil painting, to sculptures, drawings and china paintings. The gallery also generously grants its time and space to mentoring art students from the area's schools.
  • The St. George Art Museum & Opera House - This lovely, historic building was constructed in 1875, and today has been restored to its original design and beauty.  Here, the St. George Art Museum offers a 10,000 square foot, two-story space that houses a permanent art collection, the Statehood Centennial Legacy Collection and rotating shows.
